(More customer reviews)After going through several revisions of the "best" combination of function and protection for my smartphone, I dreaded doing the same for my iPad. I ordered the standard Apple cover, believing it alone wasn't going to be adequate for "drop/ruggedized" protection. Therefore, I also ordered the Targus A7 as a "stop gap" measure until I could use the iPad and do more research. However, I found the combination of the standard Apple cover (for screen protection when closed) and the Targus A7 for carrying and storage, worked perfectly for my needs. Even with the Apple cover, the iPad fit snuggly into the Targus A7 (had to move the zipper around the protruding Apple case edges, but that wasn't a problem); my experience with the smartphone was that the cases were so close in tolerance, that having a cover on the phone itself meant it wouldn't fit into a case, so I was worried the same would be true for the Apple Cover/Targus Sleeve. I comfortably carry the iPad in my briefcase inside the Targus, and remove when needing to use the iPad. Either case by itself just didn't feel like "enough", as the Targus, with soft, padded sides, felt like it might allow pressure on the beautiful iPad glass display. With the Apple case closed and inside the Targus, I don't have to worry. I've even done the accidental drop, and all has been without scratch or breakage. I'd recommend this case, but only if you have something also covering the iPad screen to prevent breakage from pressure. For me, the proof is that I haven't purchased any additional cases or covers, as this combination works so very well.
