(More customer reviews)The positive is that the Product does exactly what it says it does. It is a great way to capture handwritten notes as gif files. I bought the smartpad on impulse with the hope that it would provide a better alternative to the stacks of legal pads in my office. It is easy to use and takes very little getting use to. There are areas for improvement. The writing area is small since it only works with 5x7 writing pads, would be better in an 8.5x11 version. Hard to go from a nice writing pen to the less expensive feel of the smart pen. Would like to be able to transfer files from ememo to edatebook, but it does not appear to let you do that. You do have to remind yourself to add a page to the entry on your palm as you flip to the next page on the writing tablet, otherwise you write over your notes. But, overall, it is a great way to minimize those stacks of legal pads for day to day notes of telephone calls, meetings, reminders, ect.

Transmit your handwritten notes, drawings, and diagrams immediately intoyour Palm handheld with the Seiko SmartPad connected notepad. The SmartPad comesin a portfolio with the SmartPad tablet, SmartPad pen, paper notepads, and roomfor refills, business cards, and other items.
To use the SmartPad, simply start writing on the included plain-paper notepadwith the SmartPen ballpoint. The SmartPad pen transmits your written notes tothe SmartPad transmitter, which then sends the information to your Palm handheldvia its infrared port. Use the enhanced SmartPad Palm applications to save yournotes, drawings, and maps in any of the four major Palm applications. Notes aresaved as either BMP or GIF image files at a resolution of up to 72 dpi. TheSmartPad pen can be used both as a ballpoint and as a stylus for your Palmhandheld.
The SmartPad is compatible with Palm III or later Palm handhelds and otherhandhelds using Palm OS 3.1 or higher. It is not compatible with upgraded olderPalms or Palm Pros. It requires an IBM-compatible Pentium or equivalent runningWindows 95 or later with 16 MB or more memory and 16 MB of hard drive space.
The SmartPad comes with the SmartPad zippered portfolio, two AAA batteries forpowering the SmartPad transmitter, SmartPen with one AAAA battery installed, aSmartPen refill cartridge with five refills, user manual, software for PC andPalm on CD-ROM, and two standard 5-by-8-inch ruled paper pads.
