(More customer reviews)I bought this case after trying the Incase folio case that sells for $60.00, as well as the Belkin Grip-Vue sleeve and the Incase bag that is made out of neoprene. While the neoprene does a good job of protecting the Ipad, I found that taking the Ipad out of the case every time I wanted to use it to be frustrating. And, I never knew where to put the bag while I was using the Ipad.
The Incase sleeve that has the built in stand is not bad, but it's quite ugly, and the material feels like the stuff three ring binders that sell for $1.99 are made of. In addition, it is quite thick, and not particularly pleasant to hold in your hand.
The Griffin Elan Passport seemed to be a good combination of being simple, decent material, and easy to carry around and access the Ipad similar to the way one opens and closes a book. After using it for about a week, I'm relatively happy with it. My biggest complaint is that it feels a bit flimsy, and offers very little protection to the Ipad. In addition, the corner straps, while they work fine, do not offer much protection to the sides of the Ipad, and they feel a bit flimsy and cheap to me. In addition, they block the volume buttons and the orientation lock switch.
The case seems to be holding up to a fair amount of use so far, and carrying it around the airport was a breeze. It fits very nicely into the pocket on the back of an airplane seat, and it's easy to open and close, so using the Ipad to quickly check emails or look things up on the internet is very convenient with this case. I think I would prefer the feel of real leather, with a bit more padding, and a better enclosure than the four small straps that hold the Ipad in place. Other than that, I still prefer it to the skins, bags, and other devices I've seen so far. I also ordered a Marware Eco-Vue leather folio case, which I should receive next week and will compare to the Griffin product once I have a chance to try it out.
