(More customer reviews)Personally, I think this is a 5 star product but I don't think everyone would agree to this...so I gave it 4 stars for the shortcomings noted below. Overall, however, we love this product.
My wife and I both have one of these on our nightstands and have an iPad and iPhone 4 on it. We use our iPhones as clocks at night with an alarm (we use the Night Stand HD app from the iTunes store). One downside is that you can't have a case on either the iPhone or iPad. However, you can have a case on the iPhone and simply not use the customized inserts (recommended). As for the iPad, I was hoping that the Speck Candyshell case Speck CandyShell for iPad GoGo (White) for the iPad would work on this but the flap at the bottom of the case isn't quite wide enough to allow the iPad to sit in the unit correctly. Soooo, my wife and I both got cases that are easy to remove for so we can drop it in the charger. In our opinion, it's really worth it. She uses the CaseCrown Canvas Horizontal Flip case CaseCrown Canvas Horizontal Flip Book Stand (Black) for the Apple iPad Wifi / 3G Model 16GB, 32GB, 64GB.
The first unit I got had a touchy connection to the iPad. Charging was hit or miss...but this is not normal. I returned it and got one that was perfect. My wife's did not have this problem so if you encounter it, the devise is a lemon.
