(More customer reviews)This adapter is a generic adapter and is lower quality than the Li Shin adapter for which it is supposed to be equivalent. (The output specs are 19 Volts DC, 3.42 Amps.) Unfortunately, it is hard to find the proper Li Shin adapter for sale, although similar brand-name adapters made for laptops are available. You just have to make sure that the electrical output specs are the same as for the Li Shin adapter. The output plug also must be the correct size and have the proper polarity, with negative on the outside surface of the plug and positive on the inside.
This generic adapter does have slightly higher DC voltage output than the Li Shin. It measures 19.5 Volts instead of the 19.0 Volts specificiation. While it does operate the NEC monitor for which it is listed, I don't know if this slightly higher voltage could cause any problems.
Unfortunately, this adapter does not have the name of the manufacturer on the label, nor does it have any of the standard North American or European electrical safety approval stamps such as UL (USA), CSA (Canada), or TUV (Europe). The label does have a "CE" logo, but it does not appear to be the European conformance CE mark, instead it is the deceptively similar "China Export" mark, that seems intentionally designed to deceive buyers. The plug connecting the 110V cord to the adapter body is hard to insert, and it probably should not be repeatedly removed because the connecting pins may be poor quality and weak.
The 19V plug to the monitor or powered device is NOT straight as shown in the photo (as of Feb. 2011) but a 90 degree plug. If you are going to buy this adapter, be sure a 90 degree plug will work in your device without interference with the device housing.
