(More customer reviews)I had used the Griffin Loop for the iPad when using my iPad in the kitchen. But having a galley style kitchen counter space has always been an issue. Saw this at the Apple Store and liked what it promised, and my local Best Buy had it in stock with no return charges if it did not fit or meet expectations. It met my expectations, and despite what I had read - it fit my shallow cabinets (12 inches, Griffin IIRC says 14 inches).
In the last half year or so I have gotten in to slow cooking. Love the web for recipes that are out there. The free space I had for mounting works better than using the Loop on a cramped part of the kitchen counter for viewing the recipes. The side benefit is that I now can use the iPad to watch ABC Player or Netflix videos when I don't need to read the recipes.
Installing was quite painless with the template provided and decent instructions. Though I would suggest forgetting the pencil thing they mention and punch a hole in the center of the holes to be drilled and use a Sharpie or something easier to see.
I had been using the Apple iPad case; found that this case was too larger to use the mount Griffin uses to make me feel comfortable. The naked iPad fits nicely with room for slightly larger sleeves to maybe work. On that subject, read that it is not recommended to fold the unit back with the iPad attached. I second this. No problems in doing it - but the naked iPad felt as if it could fall out folded back in a stowed position. I just don't want to take that chance.
In the end the Griffin Cabinet Mount is useful for those that need counter space. Some might balk at the cost, I know I was not happy with it. Yet it does the job that it is supposed to. And for those of us that have tried saving space in our kitchens, the price is up there with other space saving options.
