What can I say? This item is pretty much what it is, a replacement and cheaper alternative for the more expensive genuine Lenovo 8-cell laptop battery. I cant really compare the non-OEM to the OEM battery, only because I do not have the OEM version, I only have the 4-cell OEM battery. In my particular case, this battery was purchased for a Lenovo Thinkpad x201t notebook. I do believe this battery does work with the entire x201 series and the x200 series as well.
As for the life of this battery, I do get a solid 5 hours and 45 minutes, give or take, of minimal usage on a single charge. When I say minimal usage I mean word processing, composing emails, instant messaging and a bit of multi-touch screen usage. When I do a bit more the indicator would drop to about 4 hours of life remaining. A bit more would include intense internet surfing (I am currently building a wordpress blog), and a lot of writing in tablet mode (this of course would only apply to the x201t model).
I really wouldn't be the one to give you much more detailed info, I am not an expert on electronics so there is only so much I can cover and tell you.
My battery is a Lithium Ion and says Li-ion 14.4 Volt and 4800 mAh. This battery cell was made in Korea and the battery itself was assembled in China. Once again I am no expert but when I did a little reading up on batteries in the past, I was informed that non-OEM batteries manufactured in Korea and China were inferior to the OEM counterparts. I cant validate this bit of information, I have no background as far as electronics and electricity goes. I am definitely not knocking on the countries them selves or products they produce but it is something I did hear. Your probably asking your self, "Well if you heard that why did you go with the non-OEM". Well it was cheaper and it does give me more life then the original 4 cell, when I'm on the road I do need at least 5 hours of battery life in one sitting and since I dont have too much cash at the moment this OEM replacement gets the job done for me.
I am actually giving this product a 4 out of 5 for one small reason. The little locking latch on the battery is shaky and loose. It makes me feel like if I were to pick up up the laptop from the battery its self that it would slide out and my laptop will come crashing down to the floor, then again I guess you really shouldn't be picking it up from the battery? A buddy of mine has this laptop with the extended battery and says it makes for a great handle, oh well. In any case the locking latch is loose and does not click into place, but it does push the opposite way to eject the battery properly. Not to confuse anyone, this is just a safety lock, when you push the battery into the laptop you do hear a separate locking noise where the battery is secured into the laptop chassis itself. Im talking about a little button that you slide to the left as a security measure which can be physically seen on the battery.
An interesting tidbit:
When I installed this battery on my x201t, I got a notification saying the following:
"This system may not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorized. The system will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorized batteries.
Attention: Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorized batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damaging arising out of their use."
This messages arises when this battery is plugged in and you have the Lenovo Power Manager installed. I assume you can get rid of this by removing the Lenovo Power Manager, but I actually like the power manager so I decided to keep it installed. This message only pops up when the ac adapter is plugged in, I do believe you can disable the message.
I can confirm that this particular battery DOES in fact charge and works fine. My machine:

This product gets the job done for me. The battery works and charges in my Lenovo x201t. This battery give me about 5 hours and 45 minutes of run time. The reason for the four stars would be the locking latch seems very flimsy and does not click into place like the original battery (detailed above).**EDIT**
This battery is actually much larger than the genuine Lenovo 8 Cell battery. This doesn't really pose to much of a problem since the battery still works. But for those of you who are purchasing the x200/201 sleeve for your x200/201 machine, this battery will NOT fit in the sleeve. The sleeve can only fit the genuine 4-cell and 8-cell batteries from Lenovo, not this particular replacement.
